In preparation for a baby shower, I was working on a baby gift.
After buying these cute summer onsie outfits, I decided I needed a summer bucket hat to go with them. I like to make matching sets, so since it was summer, I didn’t want to make booties. I looked up a couple of sandal patterns, but none were just right. This flip flop was created using the sole of my baby bootie pattern.

I doubled up the soles for the sandals so they were a little thicker. These are super easy to make.

I used cotton yarn. My favorite is Lily’s Sugar ‘n Cream, but Big Twist has a new cotton yarn, Hobby Lobby has Crafter’s Secret Cotton and Walmart has Peaches and Cream cotton yarn. These are all a little stiffer for the summer sandals and it is the same cotton yarn I use for my summer bucket hats.

I have a Loopy Flower I have used to make for summer hats, a car vent oil diffuser or a pin. I have youtube video to show you how to make them. They are much larger in the video than the ones I made for these sandals, but they are both made the same way. If you have any questions about making them, you can refer to the video.

After creating this ‘flip flop’ sandal version, I made a Birkenstock dupe sandal that can me unisex. I have to do a boy baby gift this summer too, so the birk style is perfect with my Summer Bucket hat.

Both sandal variations have 4 sizes. It is the same pattern for each size, I just change the hook size. This is a great hook set if you need more than 1 size hook.
