Teether Lovey Blanket

When my kids were babies they had little ‘Lovey Blankets’ that would go anywhere with them. My daughter had a silky one. While working on some makes this summer, I was inspired by another maker Stuck On You Crochet who had a rainbow lovey. I personally love the flowers in the granny squares, so I created a Boho Flower Lovey using those flowers. But boys couldn’t be left out, so here is the Simple Teether Lovey. Perfect for any baby and SO many color choices.
I use worsted weight yarn. Hobby Lobby ILTY is my favorite. So many amazing colors.
I added a wood ring in the corner as a teether. Babies are always putting things in their mouths, and I would rather them put a wood ring in their mouth than the yarn. This gives them something to chew on and they are washable. They are not treated with any thing. There are 2 different sizes I have used. 2″ wood rings and 3″ wood rings. It really doesn’t matter which size you choose. But this is also optional. You don’t have to add the wood ring.
If you would like a bigger lovey, just continue your repeated rounds before you start the edging.
I like to do a solid color with these, but you could alternate rows if you want different colors or do the border/edging in a different color. Your creativity has no boundaries 🙂

RD 11 – DC in each ST around, 3 DC in each CH 2 corner
**If you want to add more rows, this where you do it**
** On my FPDC/BPDC rounds, as I get to the corners with the 3 DC, if I FPDC around the first DC, I also do a FPDC around the 3rd DC with 3 DC in the center DC. So example on the corner [FPDC, DC 3, FPDC] or [BPDC, DC 3, BPDC] This keeps the corners look symmetrical.
RD 12 – start with a FPDC around the first DC and BPDC around the second DC, *repeat to the corners, in the 3DC of the corner [FPDC, DC 3, FPDC] , repeat around,
** for round 13, you will follow the same pattern as Round 12. FPDC around the previous FPDC and BPDC around the previous BPDC
RD 13 – alternate FPDC and BPDC around, in the 3DC of the corner [BPDC, DC 3, BPDC] repeat around,
** change to 6mm hook **
RD 14 – SC in each stitch, 3SC in center DC of each corner, when you get to the last corner, SC 2, CH 4, SL ST in starting SC, tie off and weave in ends

You can find this written pattern as well as my Boho Flower Lovey on Etsy and Ravelry. I have several other items that coordinate that you can combine for an adorable baby gift.
