Crochet Playing Card Holder
This is such a fun item to add to your game night! Great for anyone, but especially great for young ones and older ones that struggle to hold all their cards. With these great card holders, you’ll be able to see all your cards at once.
These Crochet Playing Card holders are pretty simple to make and have 2 fun designs, the Boho Flower circle and the Simple circle. You can also mix and match the styles (one style on each side). Creativity is encouraged.
Each holder has 2 circles sandwiched together. I used Hobby Lobby’s I Love This Cotton yarn. You will need 2 of each of these for each holder: Plastic Canvas circles in size 4.5″, Felt 6″x6″ squares, 1″ buttons and I used E6000 Spray glue on the felt. I chose to use the E6000 spray glue because I didn’t want to add any bulk in the center of the holders otherwise there might be a big gap between the 2 circles.
I chose to use cotton yarn, weight 4 and a 4mm crochet hook. You could use acrylic yarn if you choose. If you use a different yarn, you might have to adjust your hook size. I used Hobby Lobby’s I Love This Cotton for my circles.
Before I start to crochet, I spray the felt squares with the E6000 adhesive and set the canvas circles on top of the felt squares. I only do about 4 at a time, and I set something heavy on top of the canvas circles while they dry. While they dry, I work on crocheting my circles.

For Both Styles:
I like to cut the very center out of the canvas circle so that sewing the buttons on is a little easier.
Spray the e6000 glue onto the felt squares and attach to the circle canvas on to each of them (i put something heavy on top of the canvas circle while it dries), let them dry. Once they are dry, cut around the circle.
You will be joining at the end of each round on both styles.
Boho Flower Card Holder
Crochet circles (make 2):
RD 1 – SC 6
RD 2 – SC inc (12)
RD 3 – Chain 1 long CH, 1/2 Puff stitch in each st (12 – 1/2 puff stitches)
RD 4 – SL ST to the first CH space: for your first cluster, CH 2, do a 2DC cluster, CH 2, 3DC cluster in next stitch, CH 2, repeat in each CH space from the previous round (12 clusters)
**Change colors here if you want the flower to be a different color.**
RD 5 – **DC in top of cluster, DC in closing CH, 2DC in CH 2 space**, **repeat around (48 sts)
RD 6 – **SC 4, SC inc** repeat around, (57 sts)
Leave a really long tail to wip stitch the crochet circle to the edge of the canvas circle.
Simple Card Holder
Crochet circles (make 2):
RD 1 – SC 6 (leave a tail to attach the center to the canvas for both and 1 longer to attach the buttons)
RD 2 – SC inc (12)
RD 3 – SC, SC inc (18)
RD 4 – DC inc (36)
RD 5 – DC, DC inc (54)
RD 6 – SC around (54) Leave a really long tail to wip stitch the crochet circle to the edge of the canvas circle.
For both styles:
Attach the center of each crochet circle to the canvas circle. (I just tack it down in a few spots.) On one circle, hide your ends. With the other circle use the longer tail to tack it down and leave the ends out on the right side to attach your buttons at the end.
WIP stitch your crochet circle onto the canvas circle. Go through the felt. Once you attach both circles, put the wrong sides (felt sides) together and sew a button onto each side. Try to line up the holes and sew them on at the same time.
